Lauren is a Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) with a background in Human Development and Family Studies from Colorado State University and a Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Creighton University. Lauren has clinical experience across the lifespan, including working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities for 10+years. Lauren also has experience working with children and adolescents with Autism, ADHD, sensory differences, gross or fine motor delay, anxiety, and feeding difficulties.
Lauren believes that recognizing the signs of developmental delays, neurodivergence, or mental health conditions early in a child's life can be crucial for effective intervention. She is deeply committed to providing holistic care to the children and families she works with. Lauren is committed to developing individualized treatment plans that address the families concerns and the child’s areas for growth, while encouraging ways to capitalize on a child's strengths. Lauren is very passionate about interdisciplinary collaboration and communication to ensure professionals on a child's team are able to best meet the child’s needs. Parents and caregivers play an important role in Lauren’s approach as she places great value on parent education and parent coaching to promote carryover of the skills addressed in each session.
Lauren has a special interest in serving children and adolescents with a mental health diagnosis from an occupational therapy lens. She is also passionate about working with children who are neurodivergent to promote improvements in executive functioning, social participation, self advocacy, and improvements in quality of life. Lauren's focus on executive functioning is especially important, as many neurodivergent individuals struggle with skills like organization, time management, planning, and task initiation, which are crucial for daily activities and achieving personal goals.
